Criteria for liver transplantation in paracetamol-induced acute liver failure Criteria for liver transplantation in non-paracetamol-induced acute liver failure
pH <7.3 following fluid resuscitation and >24 hours since paracetamol ingestion
or
lactate >3 following resuscitation
or
all of the following in a 24-hour period:
  • INR >6.5 (PT >100 seconds)

  • Cr >300 μmol/L

  • grade 3 or 4 encephalopathy.

INR >6.5 (PT >100 seconds)
or
Any three of the following variables:
  • age <10 or >40 years

  • aetiology – non-A/B hepatitis, drug induced

  • duration of jaundice to encephalopathy >7 days

  • INR >3.5 (PT >50 seconds)

  • serum bilirubin >300 μmol/L.
