Definitions of Systemic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (SIRS) criteria, quick Sequential [Sepsis-related] Organ Failure Assessment (qSOFA) criteria, and Maternal Early Warning (MEW) criteria

SIRSa Two or more of the following:
 Temperature > 38°C or < 36°C
 Heart rate > 90 beats per minute
 Respiratory rate > 20 breaths per minute or PaCO2 < 32 mm Hg
 White blood cell count < 4 × 109/L or > 12 × 109/L

qSOFAb Two or more of the following:
 Respiratory rate ≥ 22 breaths per minute
 Altered mentation
 Systolic blood pressure ≤ 100 mm Hg

MEWc One or more of the following:
 Systolic blood pressure < 90 or > 160 mm Hg
 Diastolic blood pressure > 100 mm Hg
 Heart rate < 50 or > 120 beats per minute
 Respiratory rate < 10 or > 30 per minute
 Oxygen saturation on room air, at sea level < 95%
 Oliguria, <35 mL/hour for ≥ 2 hours
 Maternal agitation, confusion, or unresponsiveness; Patient with preeclampsia reporting a non-remitting headache or shortness of breath
