PCR products obtained under different PCR conditions (different primers with different concentrations, annealing temperature, different DNA templates, number of PCR cycles) were run on capillary electrophoresis. The number of amplicons of host COI is followed by the number of amplicons of Rickettsia COI separated by (/), and their ratio is shown in parenthesis. The effects of blocking primers are highlighted in the grey boxes. Universal to blocking primer ratios that were higher than 0.8 are highlighted in red.
