Removing rhizosphere soil from fine ericoid roots. The rhizosphere soil is best removed with aid of a suitable sieve and tap water; even maximal tap flow is typically not enough and an adapter with a flexible rubber hose facilitating flow control always comes in handy, saving hours of inefficient labor (e.g., cleaning hair roots from soil particles using a small brush or tweezers)
