CD163+ cells, the putative macrophages, may be the source of C1qA in the high inflammatory/schizophrenia subgroup. The pattern of positive correlations between CD163 and C1qA is distinguishable from the patterns indicating the relationships between the cell markers and other complement transcripts, suggesting a potentially important relationship between CD163+ infiltrating macrophages and C1qA transcripts in the high inflammatory/schizophrenia group.
