Role of nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (NRF2) in hippuric acid (HA)-induced fibrotic gene expression in HK-2 cells. (A) Levels of protein expression of NRF2, heme oxygenase-1 (HO1), and NAD(P)H quinone dehydrogenase (NQO1) in cells pretreated with 0–20 µM sulforaphane (SFN), followed by treatment with 1000 µM HA. (B) Levels of protein expression of collagen-I (COL1A1), vimentin (VIM), E-cadherin (CDH1), and alpha-smooth muscle actin (ACTA2) in cells pretreated with 0–20 µM SFN, followed by treatment with 1000 µM HA.
