Collectively deleting Btn2, Cur1, and Hsp42 stabilizes mutant [URE3] prions. Wild-type (wt) and btn2Δ cur1Δ hsp42Δ triple mutant (bΔ,cΔ,42Δ) cells propagating [URE3] composed of the indicated Ure2 proteins were grown as patches of cells on −ade plates to select for [URE3] and then were replica plated onto similar plates (−ade, left) and onto 1/2YPD (right). [URE3]S158F and [URE3]T249A are stable in the cells lacking Btn2, Cur1, and Hsp42, as indicated by the white color of cells on 1/2YPD.
