Proteins that contain the “canonical” tryptophan triad are represented by blue branches. Proteins with a WWWW tetrad are represented by red branches and with a YWWW tetrad green. The canonical triad is found widely through the CPD Class I, Plant Cry and Cry-DASH subfamilies. Tetrads are found mainly in the (6–4) Photolyase/Animal Cry subfamily.
