In normotensive conditions, binding of Ang-(1-7) to Mas1R leads to internalization in early endosomes via clathrin-mediated endocytosis and caveolae-mediated endocytosis followed by a slow recycling to the plasma membrane through Rab11. In hypertension, the caveolae-mediated pathway is up-regulated with enhanced translocation of the receptor to the nucleus and reduced recycling.
