(A) Schematic view of the genomic organization. The first gene of each gene cluster is shown in gray. The numerals above each gene indicate the induction ratio by disruption of lexA examined by RNA-seq analysis under non-stress conditions9. Short bold bars indicate probes for DNA gel mobility shift assay. (B) DIG-labeled promoter segments of four gene clusters, PggpS, PgghA, PggtB and PggpP, were incubated with His-LexA added at indicated concentrations. 50-fold and 250-fold excess amounts of the non-labeled promoter segments were added as a competitor. Samples were separated on a 6% polyacrylamide gel.
