Micro-computed tomography images of tibias of 10-week-old wild-type, MSTN-/-, and follistatin-overexpressing (F66) mice. Soft tissue contrast was enhanced using an iodine-based dye. A dramatic increase in muscle mass is observed in both MSTN-/- and F66 mice, but only F66 mice exhibit bone fracture, which is likely induced by inhibition of growth differentiation factor 11.[6]
