The (A) Orientation construct, (B) Motor Maturity and Activity construct, (C) Sensory construct and (D) State Control construct were assessed on three separate days (Trials 1–3) during the infants’ 8 days of life before necropsy, as described in S2 Table. Test items are scored from 0–2, with 0 representing no response or performance and 2 representing a higher performance of the measured behaviors. (E) A histogram illustrates the distribution of effect sizes for all four constructs at each of the three time points.
