Adenosine and related metabolite levels during aging in the cerebral cortex from C57BL/6J mice. Adenosine, inosine, xanthine, hypoxanthine, and guanosine were measured by HPLC in the cytosolic fraction from the cerebral cortex of 4- and 24-month-old mice, as described in the Materials and Methods section. Data are mean ± SEM from four to seven different samples. * p < 0.05 is significantly different from the 4-month value according to the Student’s t-test.
