AMPK and p-AMPK levels during aging in the cerebral cortex from SAM and C57BL76J mice. Cytosolic fractions of the cerebral cortex from SAMR1 (a), SAMP8 (b), and C57BL/6J (c) mice were used to analyze the amount of AMPK and its activated state (p-AMPK). Western blots were performed as described in the Materials and Methods section. GAPDH was used as a gel loading control. Data are mean ± SEM of three to seven different animals. One-way ANOVA revealed *** p < 0.001 is significantly different from the 3-month value; & p < 0.05 is significantly different from the indicated value at 6 months.
