Glutamate levels in the cerebral cortex from SAM mice. The cytosolic fraction of the cerebral cortex from 3-, 6-, and 12-month-old mice were used to quantify the glutamate level as described in the Materials and Methods section. Data are mean ± SEM of three to five different samples. Two-way ANOVA revealed # p < 0.05 and ## p < 0.01 is significantly different from the corresponding age-matched SAMR1 value; && p < 0.01 is significantly different from the indicated value at 6 months.
