Mutation rates in rDNA of young and old mice. Average mutation rates of rDNA were calculated for the indicated BALB/cA (A) and C57BL/6 (B) mice. Mice are identified by number and sex (m, male; f, female). The same mice were used as for the experiment shown in Fig. 7. Mutation rates of >0.9 were not used because they are different from those of the reference sequences in nature.
