Effect of DEQA on activation of TGF-β/Smad signaling in UVA-irradiated HDFs. Cells were exposed to UVA at 10 J/cm2 and treated with 20 μM DEQA for 24 h. Protein expression levels of TGF-β, phosphorylated (p-) and inactive Smad 2/3, Smad 7 and Smad 4 in whole cell lysates (A) and phosphorylated Smad 2/3, and Smad 4 expression levels in nuclear fraction (B) were detected by Western blotting. β-actin was used as an internal standard in the whole lysates and Lamin B1 in the nuclear fraction. The data are presented as mean ± standard deviation of three experiments in each group. ## p < 0.01 vs. no UVA irradiation group, and ** p < 0.01 vs. only UVA irradiation group.
