Gut microbial diversity of FMT donors and recipients. The α-diversity (Shannon index) of (A) bacteria, (B) archaea, (C) fungi, (D) protozoa, and (E) viruses of donors, recipients pre- and post-FMT for successful and failed FMT outcomes of rCDI patients. Significant differences were determined using the Kruskal–Wallis and Wilcoxon signed-rank tests for unpaired and paired (i.e. when analysing pre- and post-FMT of recipients) samples, respectively, followed by Bonferroni post-hoc correction. Adjusted p values were defined at *p < 0.05, **p < 0.01, ***p < 0.001, and ****p < 0.0001. The Beta diversity was calculated for all microorganisms (F) using the Bray–Curtis dissimilarity and analyzed using ANOSIM.
