The elimination effect of hepcidin in rotenone-induced α-syn accumulation was mediated via the autophagy pathway in rotenone-induced and α-syn-overexpressing conditions. SH-SY5Y cells were transfected without or with 3 μg pcDNA-syn for 12 h, followed by 100 nM hepcidin peptide treatment with (+) or without (−) 1 h pre-incubation with 3MA (5 mM) or CQ (10 μM) in the presence of 25 nM rotenone stimulation for 3 days.
