Effect of phenolic extracts from calla lily or cabbage leaves on the growth of Pectobacterium strains PC16 (a,c) and WPP14 (b,d). Bacteria were grown at 28 °>C for 16 h, with or without plant extract, under continuous shaking (150 rpm). Growth was assessed every hour and is presented as absorbance at 600 nm (OD_{600 nm}). Experiments were repeated twice with four replicates per treatment; similar results were observed in the two repetitions (bar = mean ± SE; n = 8).
