Medical history and clinical symptoms	a sudden onset of illness acute epigastric pain with tenderness on palpation
Laboratory diagnosis	at least three-fold increase in lipase or amylase activity in serum levels above the upper limit of the reference range increased of CRP concentration in the blood
Diagnostic imaging	Computed tomography with contrast enhancement patients with noncharacteristic abdominal pain for acute pancreatitis patients with amylase activity or serum lipase less than three times the upper limit of the reference range patients with uncertain diagnosis Magnetic resonance without contrast (gadolinium) patients with an allergy to contrast patients with renal failure
