Cisplatin exposure-induced changes in a number of cochlear MCs of Wistar rats (p5). The explants (n = 6 per treatment) were exposed to various concentrations of cisplatin. The numbers of cochlear MCs were scored and are presented as an average value (whiskers +/− SD). A significant increase in the MC number was observed when 20 µM cisplatin was used, whereas a decrease was observed when 40 µM cisplatin was used.
