Transport of ME at 0.05 mg/mL concentration in HBSS buffer (pH 7.4) from apical to basolateral side of Caco-2 cell monolayer seeded on transwell membrane at 37 oC for 4 hours. ME solution was added on the apical side and blank buffer was added on the basolateral side. Samples were collected every 60 mins and equal volume of ME solution and blank buffer were added on apical and basolateral side respectively. Experiment was run in n=3 wells and each data point was presented as mean ± SD. Rates of apical to basolateral transport of magnolol, MGN; honokiol, HNK; and 4-O-methylhonokiol, MHNK was calculated using linear regression of first three data points (linear range). The asterisk (*) indicates indicate significant difference (p < 0.05, unpaired Student T-test).
