Purified neutrophils (5×106 cells) from WT or CD18−/− mice were i.v. injected into CD18−/− mice. 72h after adoptive transfer the mice were euthanized and expression of the indicated cytokines in the gingival tissue was measured by quantitative real-time PCR. Cytokine mRNA expression was normalized against Gapdh mRNA and expressed as fold induction relative to the transcript levels of WT mice, assigned an average value of 1. Data are means ± SD and each dot represents the value of an individual mouse (n = 5 mice/group). ****P < 0.01 compared to untreated CD18−/− mice. NS, non-significant.
