Comparison of mean weighted spectral counts between groups. There were 2694 proteins identified and the log2 mean weighted spectral counts (wSC) of each protein in the Control and Lepto groups were plotted. In the case the group average was zero, 0.0427 was used (half the minimum observed group average wSC). Points along the dotted line are those equal in both groups, while farther from the line indicates greater differences between groups. Of these proteins, 316 were differentially abundant (Wilcoxon rank sum, Benjamini–Hochberg adjusted p-value <0.05); 98 were increased in the Lepto group and 218 were increased in the control group. Four proteins of interest are indicated: SPP1 (secreted phosphoprotein 1; alternative name osteopontin); LCN2 (lipocalin 2; alternative symbol, NGAL); AXL (AXL receptor tyrosine kinase); MME (membrane metalloendopeptidase; alternative name, neprilysin).
