Total and free nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+/NADH) ratio changes in human red blood cells incubated in the indicated conditions for 1 h. One hour incubation of red blood cells with high glucose decreased the ratios of oxidized to the reduced form of NAD+/NADH, which was completely prevented by 70 µmol/L aldose reductase inhibitor, tolrestat.
