A. Cryo-preserved African trypanosomes recovered from patients were subjected to PCR detection using appropriate specific primers namely ITS for Trypanozoon group, TbgTsgGp for Trypanosoma brucei gambiense, and SRA A/R and F/R for Trypanosoma brucei rhodesiense. Most ITS positive isolates were further confirmed to be the human-infective form T. b. rhodesiense found in east and southern Africa and not T. b. gambiense found in central and western Africa. B.
