(a) MDA-MB-231 cells were grown in medium lacking cysteine (-Cys), supplemented either with vehicle (Veh), homocysteine 0.2mM (HC) or cystathionine 0.2mM (CTH) for the stated times. Metabolites were extracted and analysed by LCMS. (b) MDA-MB-231 cells were grown in medium lacking cysteine, supplemented with vehicle (Veh), homocysteine (HC) 0.2mM or 0.8mM for 8h. Metabolites were extracted and analysed by LCMS. Statistical comparisons in f and g were done by an ordinary one-way ANOVA with Sidak’s multiple comparison test. All data are averages of n=3 biological replicates, error bars are SD.
