Renal cortex interleukin-2 (IL-2) mRNA levels are decreased in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) mice on a chronic high-salt diet. Renal IL-2 mRNA levels significantly decreased in SLE mice fed a 4% NaCl diet compared with those fed a 0.4% NaCl diet; *P = 0.027, per 2-tailed, unpaired t test.
