Heatmap of the 40 most abundant bacterial taxa in 211 Nigerian women. Hierarchical clustering identified five major clusters. Three of these clusters were dominated by one Lactobacillus species: L.crispatus (CST I), L.gasseri (CST II) and L.iners (CST III). CST I-B and CST IV-B were more diverse with CST I-B having modest proportions of L.crispatus. Ward linkage clustering was used to cluster samples based on their Jensen-Shannon distance calculated in the Vegan package in R⁶⁶.
