Iron loss induced by DFP is associated with HIF1α‐SP1 axis‐mediated regulation of FTMT expression. The FTMT accumulation across the outer membrane of defective mitochondria leads to induction of mitophagy through the specific interaction between FTMT and nuclear receptor coactivator 4 (NCOA4), autophagic cargo receptor.
