All hazard ratios are adjusted for country, attained age, calendar year, time since most recent blood donation, and comorbidities (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cancer, diabetes mellitus, atrial fibrillation, obstructive sleep apnea syndrome, hypertension, and angina pectoris).
