Effect of ectopic C‐X‐C motif chemokine ligand 14 (CXCL14) expression on tumor proliferation. (a) Ectopic expression of CXCL14 mRNA (a1) and protein (a2) in HepG2 and SMMC‐7721 cell lines was confirmed by reverse transcription‐polymerase chain reaction (RT‐PCR) or western blot analysis, respectively. (b) CXCL14 significantly inhibited viability of HepG2 (< 0.001) and SMMC‐7721 cells (< 0.001). (c) The effect of CXCL14 on cancer cell growth was confirmed by colony formation assay. The left panel shows representative images of colony formation by hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cells with stable transfection. Quantitative analysis of colony numbers is shown in the right panel.
