Fig. 1 — Production of the sesquiterpenes epi-isozizaene and prespatane from acetyl-CoA via the mevalonate pathway. Farnesyl diphosphate cyclization reactions are catalyzed by epi-isozizaene synthase (EIZS) and prespatane synthase (PPS). Both molecules are the major sesquiterpene product of their respective enzymes [18, 21]
