Task Analysis of the Zigzag Drill

Steps in Sequential Order

1. Sprint from the first cone to the second cone.

2. Shuffle feet to decelerate (slow down).

3. Plant outside foot at the cone. (The foot is flat when planting, and the athlete’s heel and ball of the foot should remain in contact with the ground.)

4. Keep nose aligned to belly button. (The athlete’s body position should not be leaning to either side when the foot is planted.)

5. Keep knees stable. (Knee position should be straight, and neither knee should be positioned inward when planted.)

6. Point lead (inside) foot in direction of the next cone. (The left foot should be pointed toward the next cone in front of the participant.)

7. Stay low to the ground. (The athlete is bent at the knees when planting.)

8. Sprint to the next cone.
