Murine model of vulvovaginal candidiasis. Gel-formulated occidiofungin (0.1%, 0.25%, or 0.5%) was compared to a vehicle control and Monistat 3 (4% miconazole). Mice treated with 0.25 and 0.5% occidiofungin demonstrated 1-log and 2-log reductions, respectively, in fungal loads from those with the vehicle control. The group treated with 0.25% occidiofungin showed an effect similar to that for the Monistat 3-treated group. Fungal loads for mice treated with occidiofungin at 0.1% were not statistically significantly different from those for mice given the vehicle control.
