Comparison of the speed of sound image (left panel) with MR image of the same level. Note that the patellar tendon is invisible with this particular sequence for the MR image. The biceps femoris is also lacking signal from the MRI. Contrary to this, both the patellar tendon and biceps femoris have the correct quantitative speed of sound (high) for the SOS image. As noted in the text, there are structures in the QTUS image that are not visible in the MR image. We get quantitative values for the patellar tendon with QTUS, and no signal from the MR image, for example.
