A Bayesian phylogeny of astacin metalloproteinases (M12 peptidases) supports evolutionary expansion in the venom of male Physocyclus mexicanus. Branch width correlates with posterior probability support for that branch. Branches are color coded by source taxon. Sicariids are different shades of pink for different species in the genus Loxosceles. Taxon names are in color when that polypeptide sequence has been confirmed to be present in a venom proteome and are otherwise labeled by symbols according to the legend.
