Schematic representation of mechanisms for the selection and expansion of CD8 + T cells by OC-expanded supercharged NK cells. Freshly purified NK cells with 1–3% contaminated T cells (CD4 + and CD8 + T cells) were treated and co-cultured with OCs as described in Materials and Methods (left panel). After days 12–25 of co-culture, the OC-expanded cells express approx. 20% T cells majority of which are CD8 + T cells (right panel). The expansion of CD8 + T cells is likely due to the lysis of CD4 + T cells by the super-charged NK cells.
