Table 2.

The distribution of blocking and binding FRα autoantibodies in 29 children and their parents.

P−M− P+M− P−M+ P+M+ Total number
Child FRab+ 12 3 3 3 21(0.62 ± 0.63)
Child FRab− 5 2 1 8

Total number 17 3 5 4 29

Among 29 autistic children, whose parents have also been tested, 20 had blocking FRα antibodies associated with binding FRα antibodies in only 5 children. Values in parenthesis (mean ± SE: 0.62 ± 0.63) refer to blocking FRα antibody titers in pmoles FRα blocked/ml serum. In 1 child, only FRα antibodies of the binding type were found.
