Origin of shrimp for the experiment. The animals were split into training and candidate breeding populations for estimation of white spot syndrome virus (WSSV) resistance genomic estimated breeding values (gEBV) at generation G₀. G₀ breeding candidates were selected and mated to produce high, random and low gEBV G₁ groups whose performance (survival after an experimental challenge test) was compared for the final evaluation of the power of genomic selection.
