Phylogenetic relationships of the WO prophages, Wolbachia strains, and insect hosts. The tree of WO on the left was constructed using MrBayes in the nucleotide substitution model GTR + F + I + G4, and WOCauA3 is set as the outgroup. The tree on the right is the same as the section depicting supergroup A of Wolbachia as shown in Figure 1, in which the branch length is ignored. We connected each prophage to their bacterial host with lines, the colors of which labeled the insect host group. The WO/Wolbachia in the same color belonged to one specific genus or a biological group of insects. Orange asterisks represent the Wolbachia strains with the intact and cryptic WO relatively far apart.
