Strain performance is impacted by the feeding scheme. We ran strains in a fixed feed process that was optimized for a production strain. These strains produced large amounts of a detrimental byproduct, and we observed residual sugar at the end of the fermentation, indicating that the feed scheme did not result in optimal performance of these strains
