Placenta from a maternal-neonatal dyad with COVID-19. There is prominent chronic histiocytic intervillositis present in which the inflammatory cells in the intervillous space stained positive with the CD68 antibody. Necrosis of the syncytiotrophoblast layer on chorionic villi is visible even at this magnification. The findings, in this case, were indicative of intrauterine transplacental transmission of SARS-CoV-2. This placenta was described in [23]. Hematoxylin & eosin, ×10 magnification.
