A: Population characteristics. Prematurity classification is reported in accordance to the WHO classification: Very preterm children have GA 28-32 weeks, moderate to late preterm children have GA 32-37 weeks. Ethnicity was determined by the self-reported ethnicity of both parents. Between group differences were assessed using Mann-Whitney U test. *Ethnicity was compared as Caucasian vs. non-caucasian. Q1: first quartile. Q3: third quartile. GA: gestational age at birth. LGA: large for gestational age, defined as above the 90^th percentile. SGA: small for gestational age, defined as below the 10^th percentile.
