Systems medicine approach employed by CoVex. CoVex integrates experimentally validated data about interaction between SARS-CoV-2 proteins (star nodes) with a human PPI network (round nodes) and known drug–target interactions (square nodes). Interactions between SARS-CoV-2 and human proteins are obtained from Gordon et al.,⁵ the human PPI network is taken from IID,¹¹ and the drug–host links are obtained from ChEMBL,¹² DrugBank,¹³ DrugCentral,¹⁴ Therapeutic Target Database,¹⁵ Guide to Pharmacology,¹⁶ PharmGKB,¹⁷ and BindingDB.¹⁸ PPI, protein–protein interaction.
