Nucleation of linear actin filaments by Arp2/3 complex is critical for initiation of actin networks, while branching nucleation promotes propagation of actin networks. Regulatory factors required for Wsp1 activation can indirectly trigger Dip1 activity by stimulating co-activation of Arp2/3 complex by both nucleation promoting factors.
