The model explains how E₂ replacement recovers physiological CORT levels in OVX rats. (A) Simulated OVX reduced CORT oscillations down to ~30% of the maximum physiological levels while keeping a constant high PG activity. (B) Simulated OVX + E₂ recovered CORT oscillations to physiological levels while keeping a constant high PG activity.
