Figure 2. — Myocardial infarct size before and after treatment in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients. The control group (n = 44) and observation group (n = 40) were given oral atorvastatin (80 mg before thrombolytic therapy and subsequent doses of 20 mg/day for 2 months) or a combination of atorvastatin and ticagrelor (initial dose of 180 mg and subsequent doses of 90 mg two times per day for 2 months), respectively. Treatment resulted in a reduction in myocardial infarct size, which was significant in the observation group. The results are presented as the mean ± standard deviation. *represents p < 0.05 for pre- and post-comparisons in the same group before and after treatment and the comparisons between the two groups after treatment.
