Induction of inflammatory conditions upregulates pathways involved in cytokine and immune signaling in IEC. (A) Heatmap representation of the top 30 differentially expressed genes between normal (untriggered) and inflammatory conditions (LPS 100 ng/mL, IFN-γ 20 ng/mL) in 3 different HIO donors. IEC were grown under microfluidic conditions for 8 days and triggered for 24 h. Heatmap shows gene expression levels (adjusted p value). Genes with higher expression values are shown in red and genes with lower expressions values in blue. (B) Based on significantly changed gene sets between normal and inflammatory conditions, functional Gene ontology (GO) pathways were isolated. Circle size represents gene counts and color gradation represents adjusted p values.
